ORIG Parlophone 45 / R 5354 (UK, Mono, 1965)
Here’s The Action’s debut single from Year Zero – that incredible turn around year of 1965.
What a great band they were – you can tell they were out of the blocks straight away with this release. Superb groove, great guitar work and Reg King’s fabulous vocals all combine to great effect.
The original black Parlophone labels are very nice indeed. Push out centre intact with ‘KT’ embossed to the middle of the A-side. NO spindle evidence to the A (‘In My Lonely Room’ looks to have been overlooked) and mild to moderate trails to the B. NO writing, no stickers, residue. Tiniest paper patch lost on the B centre. All silver print still vivid without fading. Excellent pair of these seminal 60s labels…
The vinyl does show some marking but light and unobtrusive and mainly to the B. There’s a few short hairlines and soft surface scuffs but NO feelable or intrusive scratches. It maintains a good shine and visually checks in at a genuine VG+ (Very Good Plus). As outlined below, it plays higher and better than this, though.
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and there is NO discernible audio depreciation AT ALL. So that’s NO ticks, clicks, pops. NO crackle or hiss and NO distortion or loss of clarity / lack of definition. A superb sounding record that will surely please most ears. Quiet run-ins! EX (Excellent) audio.
Play it at home, play it on the dancefloor. A great addition to your collection. Low start, no reserve…
