Deram Records DES 13082--Gatefold Jacket LP
Alan Bown started out as a Trumpet player in the very early 1960's with a love for R'n'B and formed the Alan Bown Set that built a big club following all over England & Europe. A large group (8 pieces) had a full Horn section with Jeremy Roden on Vocals. They finally got a record contract in 1968, and by this time the group took on a somewhat Psychedelic sound added to their R'n'B. What a combination! They had a hit off the LP 'Still As Stone' that featured Robert Palmer who had become the bands Vocalist by this time. Palmer stayed for a while before going solo, and the band itself called it a day in 1971, with Bown going into A&R work. Quite a group over their long history, and fortunately this LP survives to preserve the band on record.
