THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND - AT FILLMORE EAST
One of the rarest coveted UK Atlantic plum and red first pressings, a brilliant copy of this Allman Brothers southern rock classic on the Atlantic label, STEREO 2659 005 (K60011) (although on the labels there is also 2402035/6)
The dead wax matrix numbers are :
Side 1 2402035 A//1 with stampers "1 2 3"
Side 2 2402036 crossed out and etched 24002035 B//1 with stampers "1 1 3"
Side 3 2402036 A//1 (with the A crossed out replaced by B crossed out and A written again) with stampers "1 1 4"
Side 4 2402036 B//1 (with A originally stamped, crossed out and replaced with B and 420 also crossed out) with stampers "1 1 5"
The appearance of the flat, heavy vinyl is near mint (NM). In normal daylight the condition of both sides of both vinyls comes across as flawless - jet black and retaining their original beautifully lacquered sheen. Under a bright light it is just possible to make out a couple of very, very faint paper scuffs but these are purely superficial. The beautiful, unmarked condition of both sides of the vinyl strongly indicate that this record has been played only a handful of times. There is a mild warp on record 2, however. This does not affect playback which is superb throughout, but the warp is clearly noticeable. The warp is on the periphery of the record which means that before the side has completed the stylus no longer goes up and down, and I have no doubt that with the right level of knowledge, care and attention the warp can be rectified, either completely or partially, but I am not going to try! For this reason (and the fact that audio quality is not impaired) I would grade the condition of record 1 as excellent+ (EX+), and for record 2 excellent- (EX-).
The labels are pristine. No obvious blemishes at all, just the occasional very faint, small spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole. Brilliant!
The non-laminated (front and back) iconic outer gatefold sleeve is excellent (EX). All edges remain firm with no scuffing at all, and each corner remains a well defined right angle with virtually no scuffing/rubbing and the spine is perfect with all text perfectly legible. There is a very light 10cm diagonal crease in the top left corner on the reverse side which shows itself through to the front side (albeit you have to look closely to notice it) indicating that that whole portion of the gatefold has been partially turned over at some stage - nothing nasty here but it is noticeable. All photography, art work, and colouring remains perfectly intact with great richness of colour and clarity.
Finally, the quality of the audio is brilliant. The appearance and condition of both records strongly suggest that they have been very sparingly played. Tremendous tone and clarity throughout with no distortion whatsoever, even at higher volume and higher frequencies. No clicks, no skips, no nasty surprises, and not even the occasional background crackle/interference - just perfect stereo throughout. Every single track on this wonderful album makes for a great listen. You just can't beat vinyl!!
The tracks are :
Side 1 :
1. STATESBORO BLUES
2. DONE SOMEBODY WRONG
3. THEY CALL IT STORMY MONDAY BLUES
Side 2 :
1. YOU DON'T LOVE ME
Side 3 :
1. HOT 'LANTA
2. IN MEMORY OF ELIZABETH REED
Side 4 :
1. WHIPPING POST
Note that side 1 is coupled with side 4, while side 2 is coupled with side 3, but the labels denote side 1 with side 2, and side 3 with side 4!!
Comes with original "PLASTIC BAGS ARE DANGEROUS" inner sleeves, each of which have no tears or splits and remain in truly excellent+ (EX+) condition. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
In summary an overall excellent copy (it would be excellent+ if it were not for the record 2 warp which, I emphasis, does NOT affect playback but is nevertheless noticeable) of this very rare and sought after 1971 UK Atlantic "red and plum" label 1st pressing rock classic - a worthy addition to any vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.
If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 50 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by acquiring records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 64 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60's and 70's that I have never come across before. Wonderful! Richard
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy.
On the subject of packing and postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.
For this item postage & packaging will be :
for the UK, Royal Mail 1st class : £4.00,
for continental Europe, international tracked & signed for : £11.00
and for Rest of the World, international tracked & signed for £15.00
I DO discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.
Good luck with your bidding! Richard
NOTE : My vinyl descriptions comply with the official Record Collector vinyl grading guidelines :

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Bad
The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
