This record is by the American rockband The Allman Brothers Band. The band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in1969 by brothers Duane Allman (founder, slide guitar and lead guitar) and GreggAllman (vocals, keyboards, song writing), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar,vocals, song writing), Berry Oakly (bass), Butch Trucks (drums), and JaimoeJohanson drums). Their first two studio releases, The Allman Brothers Band(1969) and Idlewild South (1970) (both released by Capricorn Records), stalledcommercially but their 1971 live release At Filmore East was an artistic andcommercial breakthrough. It features extended versions of their songs showcasingthe group's jamming style. Group leader Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycleaccident later that year – on October 29, 1971 – and the band dedicated Eat APeach (1972) to his memory.
Enlightened Rogues was the band’ssixth studio album and was released in February 1979. The Band had broken up in1976 following internal turmoil, amplified by escalating drug use. The bandmembers splintered into different acts. Guitarist Dickey Betts approached hisbandmates in 1978 with the prospects of a reunion. They began recording EnlightenedRogues that December, and recording stretched into the new year. Thealbum's title comes from a quote original guitarist Duane Allman used todescribe the band: "The world is made of two great schools, enlightenedrogues and religious fools. The album was a commercial success in the UnitedStates, peaking at #9 and earning a gold certification. "Crazy Love"was the group's second of three Top 40 hits, reaching #29. Despite this,Capricorn would file for bankruptcy that fall, leading the Allman Brothers tosign to Arista records.
