Up for auction is a very nice copy of the album "The Art Farmer Septet (Plays The Arrangements And Compositions Of Gigi Gryce And Quincy Jones)" released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7031) in 1956. Iconic cover illustration by Don Martin. This fine copy is a genuine original, deep groove, MONO first pressing, with RVG in the run out. Matching and correct W.50th St., NYC address on both labels and cover. "Framed" laminated cover with no printing on the spine shows the cover to be an original first issue, unlike most floating around for sale these days. The cover is in great shape with very few signs of wear or previous use. Lamination is still high gloss and shiny. No ring wear, tears, or separations to the lamination. White parts are white, no age discolored with is common on this album. Back cover is in beautiful condition, bone white, no ring wear, no writing. Small moisture mark in lower left corner with a small rubbing loss. The word "Jazz" is stamped in upper right, probably by the record company or store. Super clean. I'd grade the cover Near Mint Minus (NM-). The vinyl also looks really nice. Retains its original high gloss shine. No much sign of wear anywhere. No obvious scratches or handling marks. There are some faint adhesion marks on the faces from being in the original sleeve for so long, but these do not affect play back in any way. I've play tested this record, and it sounds very clear and clean. Beautiful full mono sound fidelity. Perhaps a tiny bit of very faint surface noise at the very beginning of each side, but it's really hard to tell--this is one of the cleaner copies of this record I've every heard. You're not likely to improve much over this copy. A very attractive and playable copy to enjoy. I'd grade the vinyl EX++ (visually), and EX++/Near Mint Minus (audibly). 100% guaranteed, risk free buying.
