Legend has it that, after hearing this beautifully poetic and under-adorned masterpiece of simple elegance and elegant simplicity, Eric Clapton decided to give up on heavy electric blues (Cream- style) altogether , and never looked back. Indeed, after 1969 we find him singing and playing southern soul, reggae, pop, disco, hard rock , techno-pop and whatnot, but we no longer get to hear him play 9-minute guitar solos. The impact that this, Band’s second album (and a truly historical relic - in more ways than one), exerted on Rock world surely cannot be overestimated. It proved to the world at large that Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins and John Hammond,jr. were not crazy when they opted to be backed by THE Band. Both songwriting and musical execution are exquisite; the album contains some of the best - and most memorable - Rock songs ever written and played, and represents one of top-20 best albums of all times. This is the original 1969 pressing of the album, on the original Capitol lime-green label, and is offered here in a beautiful condition. Don’t fail to grab this piece of history. Track listing: Across The Great Divide - Rag Mama Rag - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - When You Awake - Up On Cripple Creek - Whispering Pines - Jemima Surrender - Rockin' Chair - Look Out Cleveland - Jawbone - The Unfaithful Servant - King Harvest (Has Surely Come) .

For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, or for some other innate quality, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye, Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice (of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita" fame), Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton (who wrote liner notes for Bob Dylan's first album), Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). For more details, see: "Critics Choice: Top-200 albums" compiled by Paul Gambaccini, Omnibus Press, Library of Congress Catalog No.7855565 (orclick here  for the complete album listing)

A NOTE ON SIMPLY VINYL LABEL: Simply Vinyl was formed in 1997. The aim of the company was to reissue a broad range of classic albums on 180 gram virgin vinyl with 350 gram thick and durable card sleeves. All Simply Vinyl releases would endeavor to reproduce the original analogue sound whenever possible and the original album artwork as closely as possible to the original release. The company places the finished LP into a heavy-duty PVC wallet which is sealed with a customised Simply Vinyl reflective seal. In September 1997, Simply Vinyl released its first 25 albums which were selected from the Warner Music, Sony Music and Rykodisc catalogues. In March 1998, the company diversified into re-releasing some classic contemporary film soundtracks. Simply Vinyl has been relaunched and revitalised under new ownership in 2010. Please note that counterfeit / unofficial releases that pretend to be issued under this label do exist and can be found on ►this page.  Because Simply Vinyl issued exact 1:1 copies of the original covers/labels, you will often find the Simply Vinyl catalog only in the runout.

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.

(c)             The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          In addition, the record is  pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       THE COVER

COVER IS STRONG NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►STURDY PVC SLEEVE WITH RESEALABLE FLAP

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine (BARELY VISIBLE)

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
