Stage Fright is the third album byThe Band released in 1970.
Much more of a rock album than its predecessors, it was a departure from their previous two efforts in that its tone was darker and featured less of the harmony vocal blend that had been a centrepiece of those two albums.
The songs this time around were far more personal, and, in some cases, quite troubling.
Only "All La Glory," Robertson's song about the birth of his daughter, was fully positive.
"Strawberry Wine" and "Sleeping" were celebrations of indolence, while "Time to Kill," as its title implied, revealed boredom while claiming romantic contentment.
Several of the album's later songs seemed to be metaphors for trouble the group was encountering, with "The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show" commenting on the falseness of show business, "Daniel and the Sacred Harp" worrying about a loss of integrity, and the title song talking about the pitfalls of fortune and fame.
"The Shape I'm In" was perhaps the album's most blatant statement of panic. The Band was widely acclaimed after its first two albums; Stage Fright seemed to be the group's alarmed response, which made it their most nakedly confessional.
Engineered by an up-and-coming Todd Rundgren, and produced by the group themselves for the first time, the album was recorded in their home-base of Woodstock, New York.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and fresh with just one light spindle trace on one side, none on the other - MINT-
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces retain their original deep, like new glossy sheen and are practically unmarked (one light pressing blemish which as no audio consequence whatsoever) - NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio delivery in every respect with a crystal clear, deep, rich and warm sound. On playback at a loud volume there are no major audio issues of note - no scratches, no loud clicks or pops and no surface noise - the playback is beautifully clean. And apart from one or two tiny background 'ticks' on the first track (incredibly minor) the playback is flawless. Critically graded MINT- for audio this is a great copy of a wonderful LP and one which has hardly ever been played
SLEEVE: The matt G&L gatefold is printed on soft card and is also in superb condition. There is a tiny amount of 'bumping' to the corners and a light crease to the bottom spine area but these are very minor otherwise a clean, fresh and unmarked example - a very, very strong EXCELLENT
