THE BATS-Image (CBS ALD 829 S. Africa 1968) Extremely Rare 60's mixture of Mod, Psych, Pop, Soul, some original songs, some covers. Three of the 5 original songs are the stand-out tracks on the LP. 2 of them, MONEY AIN'T WORTH A DANG & WAITING FOR YOU, sound MOD PSYCH VERY BRITISH 60's and could easily be on any Rubblesque comp., the other is "THE IMAGE" with baroque psych deserving of a place in FADING YELLOW if a future volume is ever done. Huff Puff and Herd Boy are also strong original tunes and rest of tracks are more bland pop and soul covers. Quite a diverse album to say the least but worth investing in the strong tunes. Apparently 2 members of this group were British expatriates,which would explain the UK 60'S feel to some songs.Beautiful condition, a barely unplayed Record Co. Sample. Minor laminate lifting and creasing. (Ex/Nm)
