Description
An original 1966 UK 1st Stereo press copy of The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds a classic and timeless album which belongs in everyone's vinyl collection!
This is the much more rare STEREO version on the Capitol colourband label ST- 2458. A genuine UK 1st Press with the Capitol logo at 9 o'clock on the label and in a Garrod & Lofthouse flipback laminate sleeve - Beware of Imitations! Matrix numbers shown in photos.
A beautifully crafted and recorded album including BB classics God Only Knows and Wouldn't It Be Nice. If you have never played the album in its entirety you are in for a treat...
The record has been ultrasonically cleaned in our amazing Degritter & has come up spotlessly clean with glossy lustre. A few trace hairlines and scuffs on both sides and a couple of wispy paper marks, nothing remotely feelable or that troubles playback. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded VG+.
Playtest reveals a warm and captivating soundstage, very wide with great detail and depth. Nostalgic in tone, the sound is immersive & lush harmonies and orchestration just enchanting. Wonderful stereo separation - especially on Sloop John B.
It plays through beautifully with no jumping or sticking. Some low background noise/crackle in places, typically at the start of Side 1, but it subsides quickly as it plays through. No real distraction, in fact it adds to the authentic vintage vinyl listening experience. There is the odd isolated click in a couple of places but nothing unusual for 60 year old vinyl!
The flipback laminated front outer sleeve is in beautiful glossy condition for the age - solid, smooth & clean with light wear + lovely sharp readable spine. The rear notes section is particularly clean with only slight discolouration ( see photos) Minimal corner rubbing & mild ringwear visible.
Very small creases plus tiny areas of laminate lift near the bottom seam. There is also a small 2cm tear to the opening ( see photos) - thankfully no ugly tape repairs have been attempted!
No writing, splits, stains, or tape.
The original British Patented Corner Cut paper inner sleeve is present - we have popped the record into a fresh poly lined inner to keep it pristine after cleaning - you will receive this also.
A really strong & rare copy of a wonderful album, fully cleaned & tested, ready to pop straight onto your turntable & enjoy for years to come.
*** The record will be sent separated out in a clear archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits***
We have taken lots of photos in good natural daylight so you can see exactly what you are buying. Please take a moment to look at the photos as they form part of the description.
