The BEACH BOYS are the greatest harmony band of the age, and here is what is universally considered their finest album.
With Brian Wilson conducting and arranging 'The Wrecking Crew' session musicians, the instruments were laid down ahead of the intricate vocal parts. When The Beatles heard this lp, they saw it as a a huge challenge! Paul McCartney took it up and set plans for 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
The era became a hotbed of new creativenes - so the next 18 months saw the most astonishing music from Love, Small Faces, Pretty Things, the Zombies, Hollies, Kinks, The Who, The Doors, Byrds..etc. Exciting times!
