Description

Here is a nice copy of the very first single by The Beach Boys: "Surfin" b/w "Luau" (Candix 301). Released in 1961. Has the "Dist. by ERA RECORD SALES INC.) on the label. This is the 4th pressing of this single (the first are, in order, Candix 331, X 301, Candix 301 with no "Dist. by Era Record Sales Inc." and this one).


Nice vinyl. Sticker on the "Surfin" side (see photo), but no writing or tears. There is some minor residue. No writing, stickers, or tears on the "Luau" label. High gloss, some scuffs. Overall, strong VG condition.

I was asked about the "minor residue" I mention in the description. The residue is visible in the photo: it's located at about 2 o'clock on the label. I was told that it looks like lipstick, from a pair of lips. My initial thought was that it is sticker residue. But examining it more closely, I see that it does appear that someone perhaps long ago planted a kiss on this label (presumably a young girl, dreaming of Dennis). But I cannot confirm. I do believe the residue could be cleaned without damage to the label, but I will not attempt that.
