Description
This is a nice promo only 45 rpm single by The Beach Boys: "Sail on Sailor" b/w "The Trader" on Brother/Reprise Records (PRO 557). Both sides taken from the "Holland" LP (Reprise 2118). Released in 1972.
This single originally came with an original 14-page booklet (not available with this auction) that documents the whole incredible adventure of making "Holland." Entitled "The Beach Boys: Holland, The Making of the Album," this booklet is a fascinating read. It includes the "making of" story (written by Shelley Benoit in 1972), some very nice graphics, and photos of all the members of the band: Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Ricky Fataar, and Blondie Chaplin. Printed in the U.S.A.
This is a collector's item in its own right. For those of you who are interested, the text of the booklet has been reprinted in "Back to the Beach: A Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys Reader" (ed. Kinsgley Abbott, Helter Skelter Publishing, 1997).
Record is in EX to EX+ condition. The B side label shows wear, although the A side label is much cleaner. The record has dish warp but this does not affect play (to be honest, I've never come across a copy of this single that didn't have dish warp).
