The Beatles - 'Please Please Me'. PMCO-1202
The Beatles 1963 Australian 1st mono GOLD AND BLACK pressing of the 'Please Please Me' album. This one one of the earliest copies pressed which comes complete with the imported UK cover and vinyl labels which carry NUMEROUS PUNCTUATION ERRORS on both sides.
The first released batch of this album were made of a 'patch up' of an English cover, and Australian made record. This was because EMI Australia did not expect any success from this album as The Beatles first two singles which came before had relatively poor sales (they deemed it not cost effective to print any covers).
The Australian printed early gold and black Parlophone labels feature numerous errors to both sides. All are simple punctuation errors which are very obvious now but back in 1963 Australia this band and album were virtually unheard of. The UK Ernest J. Day cover has the tracks listed corectly. The label errors are:
• The album title is wrongly printed as PLEASE, PLEASE ME on both sides - a comma has been added where it should not be. Should read as PLEASE PLEASE ME.
• Track seven on side one again has PLEASE, PLEASE ME listed - with the addition of a comma where it should not be. Should read as PLEASE PLEASE ME.
• Track one on side two has LOVE ME, DO listed - with the addition of a comma where it should not be. Should read as LOVE ME DO.
• Track three on side two has BABY, IT'S YOU listed - with the addition of a comma where it should not be. Should read as BABY IT'S YOU.
A very rare and desirable issue of The Beatles 1963 debut album.
The matrix numbers are:
Side 1: XEX 421-1N 1
Side 2: XEX 422-1N 4
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition on side one and GOOD+ condition on side two.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT condition.
The sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition.
The inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition.
