The Beatles - ‘Beatles’ Golden Discs / Million Sellers’ E.P. GEP 8946
The Beatles 1965 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of the ’Golden Discs / Million Sellers' E.P. Released on the 6th December 1965, and complete with the original picture sleeve.
In 1964 an E.P had been planned which was going to contain the "Gold Discs" up to that point and have the title ‘Beatles’ Golden Discs’. The release was shelved due it being thought the release would be one too many for 1964 (an example overkill).
One year later and this E.P was the result of that planning. The 1965 first pressings still had "Golden Discs" on the label!, although not on the cover. After the first batch had been pressed, EMI quickly spotted their faux pas, and reverted to the correct title on the cover AND the label.
These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
Released on the Parlophone label both sides feature the 'Sold in UK....' text and have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd....' rim print. The 'KT' tax code is embossed on the side 2 label. It comes complete with the original front laminated picture sleeve. A wonderful example with very little play and a superb sleeve!

Side 1: 7TCE 888-1 1 GR KT
Side 2: 7TCE 889-1 2 GG KT
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT+ condition.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition.
