THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'
This superb UK 1st MONO pressing dates from initial July 1964 release and is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1230.
Both labels have the 'chubby' style font with the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'The Parlophone Co..' worded rim texts.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label. That label has some glue residue from cellotape on it.
Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N
Housed in a rare front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with 'early-style' flipbacks.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
The sleeve is in good condition and the record is in very good+ condition.
This Lp was released on the 10th July 1964. The 45rpm was released in April and at that time the Beatles' film had yet to get a title and as the story goes, Ringo emerged from a long days work saying "It's been a hard day," then seeing it was already dark added " 's night." This was then announced to the press as the title on the 17th of April. Ringo may have seen this phrase before in Lennons book "Sad Michael."
Holding a number 1 postition for a huge 21 weeks, from July the 25th!!!
This is also the ONLY Beatles album to have every track written by Lennon/McCartney.
