First Press, Variant 'B'. Black label with yellow logo and thin silver print. “The Parlophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print. “Recording first published 1964? and “Sold in U.K. subject to resaleprice conditions." With KT tax code impress.
This variation has the experimental slimmer text, and the title “Songs from the film A Hard Day’s Night” only appears on side 1, and doesn’t take up as much width across the label as other Parlophone releases.
Vinyl Condition: The Vinyl still has plenty of gloss (Please see pictures. That pink thing in the photo of the matrix number, is my finger on the camera shutter, reflected in the vinyl.). There are no apparrent scratches or scuffs, when viewed with the naked eye. Viewed under a bright light, there are several light scratches and hairlines, although they don't appear to overly affect the sound quality. Some would rate this record as Excellent, or 'Minty' whatever that means, but I think a fair rating is VG+ (Very Good plus). The labels are both in excellent condition, without writing, stickers or any damage other than faint spindle marks.
Sleeve Condition: The sleeve has no rips, tears, writing, stickers of major damage. It does have creases, edge & corner wear and some age-discolouration. I can just about rate it VG (Very Good) although it's bordering on just good. The inner sleeve is puzzling. It appears to be a standard EMI poly-lined paper one, but the side that usually has the EMITEX advert has nothing printed on it, it's blank. So assume that it's the wrong one, but I'll look into it.

Record Grades: Mint (M) The record - should be in new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The Cover - should be in perfect condition along with any extra items. Excellent (Ex) The record - signs of having been played but displays minimal deterioration in sound quality. The Cover - may have slight wear or creasing. Very Good (Vg) The record - played many times. Surface marks and light scratches evident but no major deterioration of sound quality. The Cover - normal wear and tear without major defects. Good (G) The record - noticeable deterioration of sound quality due to playing. Some distortion/scratches. The Cover - suffering from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits and discolouration. Fair (F) The record - still just playable but with considerable surface noise and occasional jump. The Cover - may be torn, defaced or stained. Poor (P) The record - too scratched to play properly with bad surface noise. The Cover - badly damaged. Bad/Relic The record - unplayable or broken. Useful only as a collectors item. The Cover - disintegrating.
