GOOD VALUE pre-owned vinyl album released in the UK in 1964 on the Parlophone label (Cat. No. PMC 1230). It has the 3N stampers and Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve. 

Matrix numbers are: (Side One) XEX 481-3N R GL and (Side 2) XEX 482-3N K MN O LR 4

The main differentiator of this early pressing, compared to later versions, is the black and yellow Parlophone label with the perimeter rim copyright text, 'THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD • ALL RIGHTS OF THE MANUFACTURER AND OF THE OWNER OF THE RECORDING WORK RESERVED • UNAUTHORISED PUBLIC PERFORMANCE BROADCASTING AND COPYING OF THIS RECORD PROHIBITED'. Above the spindle hole the centre text, 'SOLD IN THE U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS'.

There is a number of other differentiators present on both the labels and the cover.

Label:

1 - Has a 'chubby' font with the right-hand side indicator numerals appearing under the '2' in the catalogue number 'PMC 1230' above them.

2 - The publishing copyright date is given as 'RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964', and is nearly left-aligned compared to the matrix number above it.

3 - The group's name 'THE BEATLES' is closer to the '(Lennon-McCartney)' credit above it than to the 'Northern Songs Music Ltd.' publishing credit below.

4 - A2 'I Should Have Known Better' has its title split over 2 lines.

5 - All of the song titles on side 2 appear on separate lines.

6 - No embossed tax code around the spindle hole.

Cover:

1 - Front laminated, tri-flipback and printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., with a medium 'MONO' indicator on the front, top, right hand corner.

SOME of my albums/EPs are graded visually ONLY (but, even then, I will test-play at least one track on each side). If a record has recently been played in its entirety I will state so below. I recommend that you do not attempt to remove any price stickers or suchlike from the sleeve.

Grading (visual AND played in its entirety)

Price Sticker on sleeve? NO

Sleeve: GOOD - the pluses are that the front laminate is complete and there's no handwriting or tears. The minuses are plenty of creases and bumps; and the rear (non-laminated) sleeve is very grubby. It's more or less complete, though.

Vinyl: VERY GOOD+ - it's a strong VG+ with a very few (but very light) surface marks and two or three tiny scratches. It's been listened to in its entirety and found to play very well with only a handful of pops during fade-outs and between tracks. No skips, sticks or jumps. The labels aren't all that great, displaying plenty of wear adjacent to the spindle holes.

Shipping: Economy Class (Yodel 3-6 business days, approx) is the default postage option at a cost of only 99p. If you would rather have Royal Mail then 24hr and 48hr Tracked are both available at checkout (at additional cost). PLEASE do not select economy class and expect Royal Mail.

All of my records are honestly graded according to the system established by Record Collector magazine:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition and may even be unplayed, with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have very slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
