The Beatles Ballads is the best Beatles album, released on analog LP on October 20, 1980.
The album was not released in the United States and was released in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand,
Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, Korea, and Australia. It reached #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and a high of #17
on the UK Albums Chart.
This is the third thematic best-of album following "Rock and Roll Music" and "Love Songs".
It is an album of Beatles' ballad numbers, and some of the songs on it overlap with "Love Songs," which is also a collection of ballad numbers.
It does not include any songs featuring Ringo Starr on vocals.
The cover design is by Scottish artist John Patrick Byrne (English version), and was originally drawn for the cover of the original "The Beatles (White Album)" album released in 1968.
The mixes of the songs on the album were released in the UK, but "Norwegian Woods" is a remixed version of the original stereo mix, which was also released on "Love Songs" in 1977, and is a more centered mix of the original stereo mix.
Despite the fact that the recording is quite long (approximately one hour), it was released as a single disc instead of a double LP.
Also released in Korea, this album contained "Girl" as an alternative measure until 1993, due to censorship of the lyrics of "Norwegian Woods".
Japanese editions in good condition are recommended for collections.
