Description
THE BEATLES - BEATLES FOR SALE – MISPRINT ‘LOSSER’.
PCS 3062 - 1964 STEREO, YELLOW AND BLACK PARLOPHONE LABEL.
This UK copy is in 100% original condition, is a second pressing from 1968. While this is an excellent LP, it shows that the group were tired from their heavy touring schedule, John provides most of the songs and while Paul’s songs are brilliant, his contribution is less. Otherwise the LP is made up of cover versions, proving maybe that they had little time for song writing. The very attractive sleeve photos, taken in London’s Hyde Park captures so well the Autumn of 1964.
This particular LP features the very unusual misprinted label for the song ‘I’m a Loser’ as its spelt ‘ I’m a Losser’ !, obviously a complete mistake, this was soon corrected by EMI, but a very few got out into the public market.
CONDITION:
MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the front and rear of the sleeve is laminated. These early gatefold sleeves can be rather fragile, but this one has lasted up well over the years. It is very clean and straight, with NO tears, Biro writing or stains or stickers on. The spine is very good and strong and all the text is perfectly clear, the early design of visible flipbacks can be seen inside the gatefold sleeve when opened and all are stuck down firmly.
INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition and is the original 16 box, EMI red and white advertising sleeve, advertising other records of the day from 1968. This very original sleeve is very well preserved and is fresh and white, with very little signs of wear, there is NO wear at all to the edges of the sleeve. The record comes with a spare plain white inner sleeve to help preserve the original.
VINYL: side One is in excellent condition, side Two is in very good+ condition, the vinyl in appearance is very dark, clean and shiny, the audio in general sounds excellent, there is some light crackle to be heard in places. The vinyl is made of the old ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. The matrix nos. are YEX 142 - 1 (oddly the number Two has been heavily stamped over, it is unclear what originally lay underneath !) and YEX 143 - 1, the Mother/Stampers are: ‘ 1 R P’ and ‘5 MH ’.
THE LABELS: the all important label on side One is in excellent condition, the other label is in very good+ condition. The labels are clean and bright, showing their original colours and are not faded, there are NO letters embossed onto the labels. Incredibly the song, ‘I’m a Loser’ has been misspelt as ‘ I’m a Losser’ on side One, EMI were quick to notice this, but it didn’t happen in time for a small number of these mispressed records to escape into the public market place.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback, I have received one neutral and one negative feedback recently. This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received these two pieces of feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !, I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !
***************
To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.
Grading System
The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
+ or – : indicates a grading in between categories.
Post and packing is NOT free ! - Sorry for the confusion.
From October 2009 Ebay have introduced free postage & packing on records to all UK destinations !.
This new policy ‘insists’ that an auction displays free post and packing !, I cannot offer free shipping by Royal Mail as in some cases it would mean I would be paying you to buy the record !.
Ebay's solution is for me to add the cost of the postage to the starting price of the item !, ( this would be Ebays gain as Ebay would get more in their final valuation fees ! ) but this would penalise international buyers. Also, UK buyers buying more than one record would be penalised !, as combined postage would be eradicated!.
Therefore, my shipping costs to the UK are as listed below. Please contact me for overseas postage/shipping rates. The postage/shipping rates are NOT included in the item/auction price.
