Description
The Beatles, Third State Butcher Cover.
This is the best example of a Third State Butcher Cover I’ve ever seen in person. The peel looks professionally done. There are few traces of the trunk slick that was removed, and there is some glue residue evident, as is typical. There is some light staining on the back, as can be seen in the photos.The vinyl is also in incredible condition. The vinyl surface itself I would rate as VG++, almost an NM, although someone has written their initials, very small, on the label of side one. There also appears to be some light felt tip red ink on the Capitol logo of side two.
Please examine my photos carefully. I will try to take very clear photos of any flaws, although there are not a lot of flaws to show. This is an exceptional example of a Third State Cover.
Some details:
THE COVER:
The measurement of the album jacket from left to right is just under 12 and 12/4 inches, indicating that this was indeed trimmed to accommodate the trunk slick that covered it as a second state cover.
The paper that the Butcher slick is printed on is textured. The idea was to give the illusion of a painting on canvas.
All seams are tight and firm with no splitting. See photos for close-ups of flaws.
THE VINYL:
Of course, with these Butcher cover albums, the vinyl is much less important. But it’s a pretty great bonus when you find one that has the vinyl in such good shape. Please see above for notes on condition.
Labels have a black rainbow color-band without "subsidiary" rim text.
This version was pressed by Capitol's plant in Scranton, PA (identified by stamped letters I over AM inside a triangle).
Labels have the title as "YESTERDAY" . . . AND TODAY and this appears below the band name on the labels: (Recorded in England)
The number "6" appears on the back cover to the left of the RIAA logo, indicating cover made/printed by Imperial Packing Co., Inc.

THE INNER SLEEVE:
This item includes the original inner sleeve with promotions of other Capitol records pictured. The inner sleeve is in excellent condition except for a partial split on the bottom seam.
