Cover           EX-

Original outer-laminated gatefold cover with the flipback inner section. Lovely condition for its 52 years. As you can see in the photos, there is a little edge and corner tip rub, and a few small creases, but otherwise fine. No writing, sticker removal damage, indentations or other marks, no laminate lift, and a clear spine with fully legible text and minimal squashing. A very solid and decent example of a classic and highly collectable cover.

This copy comes with a plain white inner sleeve, not the original, which is in decent shape with no splits, just a few creases.

Labels         EX   

Original first pressing “black and yellow” labels with “The Parlophone Co” perimeter text, “Sold in the UK” text, and the “KT” tax code stamped by the spindle hole on side 1. No writing or other marks. Clean, smooth and flat, and the yellow and silver inks have maintained their depth and clarity. Many of these original labels are covered in thick spindle marks, but these have just a few light traces on each side, certainly some of the better labels you will find.  

Vinyl            EX  

The heavyweight vinyl is in great shape, and has retained its original glossy sheen and finish. No major scratches or marks, just some light sleeve removal traces on both sides, but these do not affect play. Fully play tested on a Project/Ortofon/NAD system with Bayerdynamic headphones, the sound reproduction is excellent. Listening attentively, I noticed just a couple of very small clicks on side 2, each lasting no more than a few seconds (one on Words of Love, the other on Every Little Thing), but these really were very minor, and apart from this there are no other skips, clicks, pops or jumps, and both sides play with a really clear and punchy sound. Barely any background static in the lead-in grooves, really superb audio throughout.

PACKAGING

The LP will be securely packaged. It will be sent in a polythene sleeve with card inserts and inside a dedicated record mailer envelope. The vinyl will be separated from the cover to prevent any ring marking in transit. The package will be secured with thick brown tape and marked with additional large “FRAGILE” taped stickers twice on both sides. I make no charge for this packaging and I make no profit on postage, so I take a small loss on P&P. Within the UK I send all my LPs tracked & signed, which provides added security for both buyer & seller.

RETURNS

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your purchase I will be very happy to give a full refund (minus return postage) if the record is returned to me in the same condition within 14 days. A NOTE ON STATIC

Most of the LPs I am selling are 30-50 years old. There will inevitably be a certain amount of background static and noise on any LP of this age. I play test all my records before listing and I do my best to describe the condition of the vinyl accurately. All LPs are likely to benefit from a clean with a professional liquid or record cleaning machine.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING GUIDE

MINT: The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
