It's hard to describe how good the Doc Ebbetts releases are if you are unlucky enough not to have any. The artwork itself totally shames Apple/EMI and capitol. But it’s the sound transfer quality itself that’s the real money shot. Obviously the guy has a superb needle/transfer system and access to state of the art printing facilities - but his sheer love of The Beatles always shines through, the like of which a big record label could only dream of. Unless Apple/EMI and Capitol has officially re-mastered and released all of these titles, then we should all thank the Doc for the invaluable service he has given to collectors everywhere. In fact, Capitol usually doesn’t do them as well as the Doc does but Capitol has been known to rush release their own US versions of Doc's great work. This was the case when Doc's beautifully designed "COLLECTORS ITEMS" as released and Capitol rush released their version called "Rarities" which in my opinion is the ugliest, least creative Beatles LP cover ever made. "COLLECTORS ITEMS was one of the most creative Beatle album cover designs since the band broke up.
The "CASUALTIES" album collects together 16 impossible to find (in 1981 in the USA) rare singles. First compiled & released on vinyl in October, 1980 by the same Dr. Ebbets who produced The Beatles "COLLECTORS ITEMS".  The very first pressing of "CASUALTIES" was a picture disc with the full, uncrossed “butcher cover" artwork, detailed liner notes, and a fictitious Capital Records catalogue number (SEAX 11950).  "CASUALTIES" was then reissued in February 1981 as a "Promotional Only" conventional album (Capitol SPRO 9469) with a promo prefix (SPRO) and catalog number (9469) on the cover creating more mystery. 
According to the liner notes (in 1981), "none of these tracks have previously appeared on a Capitol album. Most have been issued by EMI in foreign countries. Some have appeared on US singles. Also included are three unreleased recordings."
1. The first track is the mono “Please Please Me”.  The original Capitol version release has a mistake where Lennon sings “I know I never every try, girl” in the last verse. This mono version has the correct lyrics.   2. “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” follows in stereo, which had never been released in the US.   3. “Money (That’s What I Want)” is the original “true mono” version of the track. 4. A true stereo version of “A Hard Day’s Night” is a few seconds longer than the mono and had never been released in the US.  5.  “I’ll Cry Instead” is one of the “outfakes” in this compilation.  All of the original 2:03 versions have appeared as a single as well as on the "A Hard Day’s Night" soundtrack LP.  The shorter version lasts only 1:44 since it omits the first verse.  The longer version is in mono with the additional verse in stereo and the entire track on Casualties edits the two versions together to form a definitive version.   6. “Ticket To Ride” is in true stereo  7. “Yes It Is” is the rare mono version.   8. “Day Tripper” is an alternate stereo mix issued only in England and Japan.   9. “I’m Only Sleeping” is an alternate mono mix of the song previously available only on the EP issued in France. The backwards guitar effects on this version appear in different portions of the song.  10. “Strawberry Fields Forever” is an alternate stereo mixed issued in various foreign countries.   11. A true gem, is the backing tracks for “I Am The Walrus.”  This is the same performance except without the orchestral and sound effects overdubs, featuring only the band playing the track.  This arrangement is the one they could have played live.  12. “Only A Northern Song” was previously available in “processed” stereo but this is the true mono version of the song. 13. The version of “Revolution” was issued as a single on Capital Records.    14. “Her Majesty” is another "outtake" with the final note taken from another bootleg recording. The final note does not appear on the existing "Abbey Road" master tape so this is also a complete fabrication. 15. The versions of “Let It Be” which were released as a single are considerably different than the one on this LP.  Most countries issued both versions (long & short) only in stereo. However, Japan released the single version in mono even though there is no actual mono mix.  The two stereo channels were combined into one for the purposes of issuing the single because in the late 1960s, Japanese singles were still mainly released in mono.
This LP was part of a large collection I purchased about 35 years ago. Personally, I‘ve been a serious collector of Beatle items since 1969. In addition, I've also spent most of my career (1971 to 2004) in the record industry  in different executive positions. Over the past year & a half, Heritage Auctions has auctioned off a large portion of my personal collection: 26 autographed guitars, 18 gold records, numerous rare & signed posters, and other original 1960s memorabilia from The Beatles & other famous groups.

Returns are gladly accepted if you are not satisfied. Please communicate to me first as I want to make sure you're happy. PLEASE NOTE: Sealed records may not be returned once the shrink-wrap has been opened. It is recommended for collectors value to always leave sealed record in it's sealed state.

SHIPPING DETAIL

All records are placed into a thick PVC sleeve before carefully securing the item in new corrugated or bubble-wrap material before packing in new strong (200 lb burst test) corrugated mailers specially made for shipping LPs or 45s. Before packing, records are always removed from opened LPs or Picture Sleeves and placed in a protective poly-lined sleeve to keep the record separate from the cover during shipment to insure there are no seam splits or other damage caused by the record during shipment. I use only new corrugated mailers and packing materials with a 200 lb burst test requirement. There is nothing worse than finally receiving the item you've been waiting for to only find it was destroyed during shipping due to the use of sub-standard shipping materials or a seller doing a sloppy packaging job.
