THE BEATLES COLLECTION, Japanese edition “Blue Box”, stereo, excellent condition, NM-.
I am offering for sale a box set of 14 LPs entitled “The Beatles Collection”, containing The Beatles’ twelve LPs as originally released in the U.K. in stereo, plus an additional album entitled “Rarities”.
The albums are as follows - Please Please Me, With The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, Beatles For Sale, Help!, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (White Album), Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road, Let It Be, Rarities.
This is the Japanese pressing of this famous set, originally released in 1979, and manufactured by Toshiba EMI Ltd. in Japan. Its contents are identical to the “Blue Box” set released in the U.K. at the same period, with the addition of lyric sheets in Japanese. All the LPs are pressed on the Apple label.
As you possibly already know if you are reading this, this Japanese set (catalogue number EAS-50031-44) is widely regarded as one of the best-ever pressings on vinyl of the Beatles’ albums, and is something of a collector’s item. It was a limited edition run of 25,200, and the example I am selling has the number 4122 on it (see photo).
The set I am offering contains beautiful examples of the albums contained inside the box, with immaculate covers and inserts rating NM. The vinyl itself is in outstandingly clean condition, and I would rate each LP as NM-. The surfaces are clean and shiny, with no fingerprints or obvious surface impairments. They play extremely smoothly and sound fantastic.
The blue box in which the LPs are stored has some scuffing, and a tear down one side of the top flap, which has been sellotaped (see photos). Otherwise it is in robust condition.
This is a highly desirable set for Beatles fans and vinyl collectors, and will be carefully packaged for dispatch. I am starting the auction at a reasonable price level, and there is no reserve.
