Description
Released on the Apple/EMI Records Ltd label in 1995, catalogue number R 6422, this Beatles single was released in conjunction with the Anthology series of releases and features on the A side the song Free As A Bird and on the B Side Christmas Time (Is Here Again)
The matrix numbers are Side A: R 6422 A - 2 - 1 - Q4 A and on the B Side: R 6422 B - 2 1- Q4.
Just like the recent Beatles' single release Now And Then, Free As A Bird was a demo recording made by John Lennon on a tape recorder in the 70's which Paul, George and Ringo then added their parts to produce a more complete recording. This record created a lot of excitement in1995 as it marked the first, new Beatles' material since 1969. The B Side of the record, Christmas Time (Is Here Again) was a single that was produced in 1967 and was only available through The Beatles' official fan club. The version found on this record i am selling features the full, uninterrupted recording - the first time this was made available. This is an extremely rare record to find as of course in the 1990's, most people were preferring to purchase the CD version rather than a vinyl copy.
The record itself is in absolutely perfect, mint condition. I have only played the record once since purchase so as you would expect, it plays perfectly without any jumps, skips, pops or crackles giving a great sound. If i was to very critical, a very small, very feint/light hairline mark is visible on the outer groove of the record on Side A, which slightly encroaches into the playing area of the record, but with being so feint/light it in no way affects the playing of the record, which as i say plays perfectly, and was there from when i originally purchased the record. Both labels on the record are in perfect, as new condition. The record sleeve is in fantastic condition, certainly when you consider it is 29 years old now. If i'm being very critical, if you pivot the sleeve in the light you can just see the odd indent mark where the record has pressed itself against the sleeve whilst in storage but these are really are hardly noticeable and do not detract from the sleeve in any way.
I can honestly say that anybody looking to own a copy of this record would really struggle to find another copy in better condition.
