What's on offer here is one of the BEATLES rarest UK releases, almost impossible to find in any condition, let alone in this condition which is one of the best examples you could ever wish to find. In 1964 STEREO LP's had to be ordered via your local record shop as most people didn't have the equipment to play them on. This particular copy has survived in remarkable condition as most BEATLES collectors know, this sleeve suffers from damage due to it's very flimsy gatefold sleeve. When you think this album is now 47 years old it was lucky it came into my possession in the late 70's. Like all early BEATLES albums normally they were played to death and inevitably wrecked because of the type of record players they were played on ie. Dansette and old fashioned radiograms, which had needles that resembled something like a nail and yes I even remember LP's stacked one on top of the other, five or six deep on the spindle to be dropped on top of each other, leading to the top one normally getting scratched as the arm comes off the record at the end, hence why so many LP's of the time are damaged. But not with this great STEREO LP which was released in December 1964. 

This is one of the earliest examples of this release, which as I said earlier was only pressed in small numbers and had to be ordered. As you can see from the labels, this is a genuine first press with the name THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD written around the edge. Also the MOTHERS are low and probably the first as I do not know of a 1/1 issue. This also has the SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS across the center of the label which again only came with the original pressings. As for the labels, the previous owner did not inscribe his name or initials in biro as so many had at this time. The labels are very clean with only very few signs of center wear, and no large spindle marks. 

The album was recorded between 11-14 August, 29 September and 26 October 1964 at EMI Abbey Road studios in London and was produced by George Martin and released on EMI Parlophone Records.

This was their fourth release and marked a major turning point in the evolution of Lennon and McCartney and lyricists, with John Lennon particularly showing an interest in composing songs of a more autobiographical nature. ‘I’m A Loser’ shows Lennon for the first time seemingly coming under the influence of Bob Dylan. Unbelievably for the time this album was the first without any single releases from it. Non album tracks ‘I Feel Fine’ and ‘Eight Days A Week’ became their seventh No 1 in the US in the March of 1965.

VINYL: 

(EX) There are some very light surface marks, however these do not affect the play.

COVER: FRONT/BACK/GATEFOLD: 

(EX) The front has some very minor wear with some laminate creases to the spine and bottom left hand corner. The back has a little ring wear which is mainly visible when the LP sleeve is held at an angle; there is also a mark to the middle of the back-please consult the pictures. There is a little laminate lift to the bottom right hand corner, and as with the front there are a few laminate creases. Overall in excellent condition with no tears to the sleeve, writing or sticker marks.

EDGES/SPINE: 

The spine has a few crease marks, overall in excellent condition with no damage. 

INNER SLEEVE: 

This is the original inner sleeve and is in excellent condition with no damage and some very minor wear.

LABELS: 

Clean, no damage or writing. 

AUDIO GRADING:

I play all LP's on my Pioneer PL 550-X. This album overall plays excellent with no jumps, pops, clicks or distortion. The only thing to note is that there is some occasional light background noise, however this doesn't spoil a truly fantastic listen!

PACKAGING: 

I use preformed and standard mailers with stiffeners. I always take the vinyl out in its inner sleeve and place on top of the cover. This is then placed into a soft protective sleeve and packaged with stiffeners for full protection.
