Australia - Parlophone - Orange Label - PCSO 7534 (Stereo)
Rare 'Music-Publisher' royalty-stamp label (Side 1) (first non-royalty orange label on Side 2)
In 1969, E.M.I. (Australia) introduced the orange Parlophone label. Around the same time, the practice of including prominent 'music-publisher royalty stamp' icons on the labels was ended.
However, 'royalty stamps' did actually appear on a very small number of orange labels. To the time of writing, only three Beatles titles with 'royalty stamps' labels are confirmed as making it out of the pressing-plant alive: Rubber Soul, Greatest Hits Volume 2, and A Collection of Beatles Oldies.
Incredibly, some LP's - such as the one offered in this auction - had a 'royalty stamp' label on only one 'side', with a non-royalty label on the other 'side' (an anomaly that is generally known as 'crossover labelling').
It is undeniable that orange 'royalty stamp' labels are generally very-thin on the ground; for example, only TWO copies of an "orange royalty" Rubber Soul have been confirmed to exist. This is not to say that there aren't more copies 'out there', or that there aren't additional Beatles titles with 'orange royalty' labels; but for the time being - according to BeatlesAustralia dotcom - the known 'orange royalty' catalogue is extremely limited.
The question, "between a '2-label orange royalty' and a 'crossover orange royalty', which is rarer?", hardly matters as one is just as difficult to find as the other. Put another way, I've possessed (and 'seen') more 'orange Columbia'-labelled With The Beatles LP's than I have of just a single 'orange royalty' LP title.
