Description
Up for auction is a very nice original copy of The Beatles album "Hey Jude" originally released in the U.S. on Apple Records (SO-385) in 1970.
-Guaranteed original pressing
-Original deep groove green Apple labels
-Labels state title as "Beatles Again"
-Spine states title as "Hey Jude"
-Bell Sound stamp in deadwax
-s/f Sam Feldman mastering mark in deadwax
-Winchester, Virginia "rifle" pressing plant symbol in deadwax
-Still in open factory shrink wrap
-Original paste-down slick on back cover
-No UPC/bar code on cover
Condition:
Cover is in beautiful condition, still protected by original shrink wrap. No significant signs of wear or age, just a hint of rub on the corners where the shrink wrap is open on the right. One of the nicest examples of this cover I've ever seen.
Grade: Near Mint Minus (NM-)
Vinyl is also in very nice condition, still has its original shine. Under a very strong light, you can see a few faint, superficial marks and hairlines, probably from taking the album out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play. Looks like it's been played a couple times, but handled with care.
Play-Tested:
I've spot-tested this record, and the sound quality is excellent overall. None of these original Apple pressings were audiophile clean, but this one is still nice. A little pressing noise on the run-in grooves, but once the music kicks in, it's not really noticeable--music sounds generally distortion-free and clear. Not NM, but still nice.
Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies
