Matrix : XEX 481-3N / 482-3N Issue : UK 1st Press
This is the UK 1st press of 'A Hard Days Night' by The Beatles. This press has the earliest bold wide type and the original 'The Parlophone Co Ltd,' 'Recording first published 1964' and 'Sold in UK' label text. It has the polylined Emitex inner sleeve and the earliest original Ernest J Day flipback sleeve.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl has a sensational gloss, it is still jet black and the grooves show no sign of heavy play at all. There are just a few very light wispy marks and a couple of small marks.
On playing the sound is Very Good, warm, rich and vibrant. There are moments of very slight noise but it has Excellent clarity and separation throughout and can be enjoyed from start to finish.
The black and yellow Parlophone label is in Excellent condition. The label is completely clean, the black is bold, the yellow is bright and the text is sharp. There is just the very slightest spindle wear. The record is complete with its original Emitex inner sleeve.
The flipback sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The earliest heavy card is solid and the colours are extremely bright. The image is still very sharp. There is a little wear on the bottom edge. The back of the sleeve has sharp black text, the white has some discolouration but it is still bright. The flipbacks are sealed and complete. The whole cover is extremely solid and the spine is firm with clear black text on a clean white background.
