Description

The Beatles, Help!

The Beatles, Help!

Original 1965 England pressed Parlophone Records mono LP, PMC 1255. Earliest pressing with "Sold in UK" text, KT tax code embossed to label and "Lark Mus." credit which was amended to "Lark Music" on later pressings. Matrix Information: XEX 549 - 2 RTG 6 (?) / XEX 550 - 2 RLA 2 (?) The last digits are only faintly impressed so the question marks indicate best guess.

Vinyl glossy but with a few scuff marks and light scratches. Grades a solid VG and is in generally better condition than the majority of extant copies. Occasional background crackle at separator bands and quieter spots but this not obtrusive and much plays EX.

Original EMITEX inner sleeve near EX.

External sleeve can grade no higher than Fair due to some large tears. One of these runs along near entire bottom front. Another shorter, around three inches or so, runs just above this one. There are a couple of smaller closed tears to front entry side. To the rear of sleeve is an approx. half inch tear adjacent to the three inch tear at front. This tear has some associated creasing either side. The tears are not too jagged and they are without loss, so some kind of repair would be possible. There is a neat approx. half inch seam split at top right corner. There are tiny pinhole marks at top right and left corners. All this said, if it were not for this damage the sleeve is generally brighter and cleaner than is the norm. Backflaps and spine are sound. A few minor marks and smudges to rear panel but no prominent marks. When angled against the light it can be noted that the front panel has been used as a writing backdrop and some handwriting impressions can be seen, but these are not obtrusive.
