Matrix : XEX 549-2 / 550-2 Issue : UK 1st Press
This is the UK 1st Mono press of ‘Help!' by The Beatles. The labels are Yellow & Black, with the ‘Gramophone Co Ltd’ and ’ Sold In UK’ label text. It has the KT tax code on the Side 2 label. The record is complete with the original Emitex inner sleeve and laminated flipback ‘patents pending’ Garrod & Lofthouse mono sleeve.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl has a sensational high gloss, with just a few small very light marks and a few wispy hairlines on both sides. There are no heavy signs of play at all and it lies completely flat on the turntable. There is the slightest noise at the intro but this soon clears and the sound is rich and very clear. It still has the wonderful early heavy vinyl vibrant, complete sound. There are a few moments of noise but this does nothing to spoil the enjoyment of this earliest vinyl press.
The yellow and black Parlophone label is in exceptionally clean Excellent condition. The black is bold, the yellow is bright and the text is sharp. There is just slight spindle wear. The record is complete with its original Emitex polylined inner sleeve.
The laminated flipback sleeve is in Excellent condition. The colours are bold, the laminate has a stunning bright mirrored shine and the picture is extremely clear. There is a little corner wear and the slightest opening edge wear. The flipbacks are sealed and the unlaminated back has the slightest discolouration but is still extremely clean and bright. The text is sharp and the black is bold. The earliest pinched spine is extremely firm with clear black text on a clean white background.
