Description

THE BEATLES Help UK Black/Yellow Parlophone MONO 2/2 matrix CLEAN LP

The Beatles, Help.

Original 1965 UK pressed Parlophone Records mono LP, PMC 1255.

XEX 549-2 / XEX 550-2 matrix numbers, MDD 4 / ALG 5 mothers/stampers.

A very clean issue. Vinyl is visually EX. The overall appearance is very solid. The labels still have a very bright and undulled gloss with just a few visible light spider trail marks around the spindle areas. Playing surfaces are bright and glossy still. There are no immediately obvious marks, although on close inspection a few light hairline scuff marks can be detected. There are no deep marks or scratches.

Playback is very clean. Just a touch of very low level and short lived crackle is heard occasionally at the band separators, but the tracks all play through cleanly, and free of crackle, ticks or clicks. Notably the track "Yesterday" plays very cleanly - this always seems to be the track which suffers most when playing less than perfect issues of this LP.

Inner sleeve is a poly-lined Emitex which is mostly EX. Clean and bright, and without browning. No marks or seam splits. Just a little edge creasing, slightly more so to bottom right corner, which is a little ruffled with creasing.

Exterior sleeve overall VG, although it is mainly the rear which drags it down to this grade. The laminated front panel is very bright and clean, and if anything brighter than the photo suggests. A few minor hairline and half moon imperfections including tiny browned pinch line creases leading in from spine area. No marks or stains to front. Rear panel has suffered some tanning/staining, which is fairly self-evident from the photo. Aside from this there are no other marks of note, no sticker, pen etc. marks. Backflaps are in good order and undamaged. Edges/spine area have survived very well. A small scuff mark to top centre edge, which is fairly neat and tidy, else edges are free of chips or fraying and pinched ends spine still has a very solid appearance with no loss or rubbing to text. Tips are just gently rubbed, but not to the point of noticeable rounding.

On the whole a very acceptable issue.
