ORIGINAL UK MAY 1970 PXS 1 BOX SET – FIRST PRESSING 2U/2U

A superb, 100% original and complete UK Let It Be PXS 1 box set, dating from the initial May 1970 release on Apple Records.

It comprises all of the genuine original box-set components: outer slipcase, outer tray, inner tray, 164-page Get Back book, and the first-pressing UK Apple PCS 7096 LP with YEX 773-2U / YEX 774-2U matrices, housed in its original fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse red-Apple cover with original plain white patent inner sleeve.

Also included is the scarce original Apple Records catalogue poster. This is a genuine period original, not a later reproduction. These posters were supplied separately to record shops to promote contemporary Apple releases and are associated with some UK copies sold during the original period; the poster was not an integral standard component of every PXS 1 box set. The record has been played only twice during my 6 year ownership: once upon receipt in 2020 and once very recently to reconfirm its playback condition. Which was NEAR MINT.

Please note that the PXS 1 catalogue number did not appear anywhere on the package itself and was for ordering purposes only.

CONDITION:

OUTER SLIPCASE:  EXCELLENT+

Clean and glossy and has held its shape well.

There is no crushing to the upper or lower ends, and the front panel retains its high-gloss appearance with no thumbnail wrinkles or creasing. The exposed edges are clean and sharp with no tears or feathering. There are just a few tiny indentations to the rear from storage. Detailed photographs of the actual slipcase, including its edges and corners, are included.

OUTER TRAY:  EXCELLENT

The fold-over flaps have a few light creases together with light rubbing to the exposed edges.

There are no tears. Detailed photographs of the actual outer tray are included.

INNER TRAY:  EXCELLENT+

Fully intact, with just very small stresses to two inner corners.

There are no tears. It retains its correct shape and is not squashed or detached.

Detailed photographs of this particularly fragile original component are included.

GET BACK BOOK:  EXCELLENT+

- Clean high-gloss front and rear panels with just a touch of storage wear.

- There is no creasing or thumbnail wear to the front or rear panels.

- There is slight wear to the rear edge at the upper and lower spine edges.

- The spine is uncracked. All pages are present, with none loose or missing.

- This example has the basic 10-line credits on page 8 and no pasted addendum.

DISC LABELS:  EXCELLENT+

There are light spindle trails on Side 2 and fewer than a handful on Side 1.

VINYL:  EXCELLENT+

Both playing surfaces retain their deep-gloss factory shine.

Apart from two light marks of approximately 5mm on Side 1, both sides appear “as new” when viewed in strong daylight/halogen light.

AUDIO:  MINT- (NEAR MINT)

The record has recently been played in full to reconfirm its playback condition.

Clean and unworn throughout, with only a little low-level vinyl background on the run-ins and bands between tracks. There is no groove/play wear, crackle, clicks, pops or other distractions.

ORIGINAL LP COVER:  MINT- (NEAR MINT)

Original fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover with the correct red Apple logo on the rear panel.

Clean and strong with a high-gloss laminate. There is no creasing or thumbnail wrinkling. There is just a tiny rub to the lower-left corner. The corners are un-bumped and square; the opening edges remain sharp, and the seams and spine are fully intact.

ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE:  EXCELLENT+

Correct original plain white Patent No. 1,125,555 inner sleeve.

ORIGINAL APPLE RECORDS CATALOGUE POSTER:  EXCELLENT+

The scarce original Apple Records catalogue poster remains unhung and factory-folded.

There are three small age spots on the rear, one of which is visible from the front.

This is a genuine original period Apple Records promotional poster and not a later reproduction.

The poster was a promotional item supplied to record shops rather than an integral standard component of every PXS 1 box set. Original examples nevertheless became particularly associated with Let It Be, having sometimes been included with copies sold during the original release period. Both sides of the actual poster are shown in the photographs.

PACKING & DELIVERY (UK & International)

Considerable care will be taken when packing this set because of its value and the particularly fragile construction of the original PXS 1 box and tray components. The original Let It Be box and individual components will be separately protected using new, purpose-bought rigid record boxes/mailers, ensuring that packing materials do not exert unnecessary pressure directly on the original 1970 cardboard components.

The LP will be removed from the original outer sleeve for transit and separately protected The individually protected components will then be loaded into a 12" vinyl record flight case, with foam separation and impact protection to prevent movement during transit.

The case will then be bubble-wrapped and placed inside a separate outer cardboard shipping carton. The finished parcel will additionally have a protective weather-resistant plastic outer covering, before labelling.

This ‘PXS 1’ LP Box Set will therefore not be dispatched in an ordinary record mailer.

UK delivery will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm with up to £2,500 insurance/compensation, fully tracked and requiring delivery confirmation/signature as applicable.

As part of this international shipping process, It will first be sent securely to eBay’s UK international shipping hub before onward delivery to the buyer & tracked, with any applicable import duties and taxes handled through eBay’s international shipping process.
