1962 UK PARLOPHONE 45-R 4949 – VERY EARLY 1N / 1N FIRST PRESSING Stamper P1 P1 – Mother G M / G R MINT
Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved early UK pressing of The Beatles’ first single, “Love Me Do” / “P.S. I Love You”, Parlophone 45-R 4949, dating from 1962.
This is a genuine early commercial pressing, with the highly sought-after 1N / 1N matrices, early tax coding and very early stamper markings

The labels have the early Parlophone Company rim text and no “MADE IN GT. BRITAIN” wording, consistent with the very early UK issue.
The record also carries the early ZT tax code.The original four-prong push-out centre is present.

EARLY STAMPER / RUN-OUT DETAILS
The run-out areas contain the early stamper/mother markings, including :P 1 / GM / GR.
The relevant markings are positioned at approximately the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions in the dead wax.
These details are clearly visible and are included for the benefit of serious Beatles and UK Parlophone collectors.
CONDITION – RECORD
The record is in exceptional condition.Visually, the vinyl retains its original deep, glossy, almost factory-fresh appearance. The playing surfaces are extraordinarily clean and remain remarkably bright and unworn.The labels are clean, fresh and completely unmarked, with no writing, stickers or other defacement.
I have play-tested the record and it plays at MINT standard.There is no unwanted surface noise whatsoever. No distracting clicks, pops or crackle were heard during playback.
The sound is clear, loud and exceptionally vivid, giving an excellent representation of this historic early Beatles recording.This is the sort of copy that has been exceptionally well cared for since 1962.
SLEEVE
The record is accompanied by an original-period TYPE 2  Parlophone company sleeve,The sleeve is in exceptionally clean condition and grades Ex+. fThere is a tiny amount of writing in the upper left hand and right corner of the sleeve,please see photos. My research suggests that early first pressings of this recording were issued with both TYPE 1 & TYPE 2  sleeves. The star of this auction is unquestionably the exceptionally preserved 1962 first-pressing record itself.A NOTE FOR COLLECTORS This is being offered as a serious collector's copy, rather than an ordinary example of the first Beatles single.The combination of:• Early red Parlophone label.
