Original 1962 U.K. first issue pressing released on the red Parlophone label 45-R 4949.

Description :

Very rare and hard to find Beatles single. Red label first issues have become increasingly collectable over the last few years.

"Love Me Do" is The Beatles' first single, backed by "P.S. I Love You" and released on 5 October 1962.

The Beatles' first recording session under producer George Martin's direction took place at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London on 6 June 1962. He immediately complained to Epstein about Best's poor drumming and suggested they use a session drummer in his place. The band, already contemplating his dismissal, replaced him in mid-August with Ringo Starr, who left Rory Storm and the Hurricanes to join them. A September session at EMI yielded a recording of "Love Me Do" featuring Starr on drums, but a dissatisfied Martin hired drummer Andy White for the band's third session a week later, which produced recordings of "Love Me Do", "Please Please Me" and "P.S. I Love You". Martin initially selected the Starr version of "Love Me Do" for the band's first single, though subsequent re-pressings featured the White version, with Starr on tambourine. Released in early October, "Love Me Do" peaked at number seventeen on the UK chart.

Condition ~ Vinyl :

The vinyl is visually in utterly gleaming NEAR MINT condition with just one extremely faint surface hairline on the B side.  

Audible Quality :

The record plays with light occasional background crackle.

Comes complete with the correct 1962 Parlophone EMI Records Limited sleeve which is in superb shape. No splits, tears or writing.

Condition ~ Labels :

Both labels are bright and clean. No writing. Just the lightest of spindle wear.
