THE BEATLES - Let it be
Original UK Box Set LP
Apple (PCS 7096)
Rare UK original UK Box Set with the red apple logo on the album sleeve and 2U/2U Matrix endings denoting a very early pressing. The trays are replacements on this copy. Still a solid collectable copy.
Matrix:
Side 1) YEX 773-2U (1 over 8 ML)
Side 2) YEX 774-2U (5 OM)
The box is in vg+ condition. We have added brightness to the photograph to show the light mottling that most of these laminated boxes suffer from. It does look better in hand. There is rubbing along the two top and bottom edges, as well as some wear to the ends with one very short splits. Otherwise it is a solid example without any large tear, creases or writing.
The record sleeve is the fully laminated early red Apple logo and is in vg condition. This is mostly due to spots of paper loss along the sleeve opening on the front. Otherwise solid with only light creasing near the sleeve opening too. Free from writing, splits, bends etc.
The labels are in near mint condition. There is no spindle wear and some spider marks. No writing, tears or stains.
This came with two inner sleeves, both white and both Patent sleeves, but one has two patent numbers while the other just has one. Both will be sent with the box set.
The vinyl is in excellent condition. Still has its original sheen with few signs of being played. Under daylight conditions it looks near mint, while angled under two very bright halogen lights i can just make out wispy paper scuffing. Playback is superb, easily near mint.
Both inner and outer trays are brand new replacements in mint condition, they are NOT originals.
The book is still in excellent condition, some mottling to front and back but all pages are present and still attached to the spine. As i'm sure you know, most of the books become detached from the spine rather easily.
All in all this is a solid example of a Let It Be box set. Some rubbing and light wear, replacement trays, decent book that is still intact, with early LP and LP sleeve and matrix numbers. The record has superb playback.
Played on a sensitive set up with a Nagaoka cartridge and elliptical stylus through Mordaunt Short MS 815's.
Please note that our grading has nothing to do with the age of the record, we grade all records the same whether they are 40 years old or 1 year old.
CONDITION
Box: VG+ (Some light mottling, rubbing to edges, one tiny edge split)
Sleeve: VG (No splits, writing or bends. Has slight ringwear, some rubbing, light creasing and spots of paper loss along front sleeve opening)
Record: Excellent (still has its original sheen with few signs of being played, No scratches, playback is superb)
Our grading is strict so as not to disappoint, we have been selling on ebay since 1998 & know how important this is. Grading of records is done with the record angled under a 100 Watt bulb. Scans are of actual item up for auction. All records are packed securely & most importantly packed outside of the picture sleeve (in a plain inner sleeve) so as to avoid seam splits during shipping.

Near Mint
Almost mint. Very minor paper scuffs and very little else can appear on the vinyl. This will most likely have occurred during packaging, or removing the record from the inner sleeve but obviously it had been handled with extreme care. Any flaw should be very hard to see. The cover should look as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and/or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable, however the artwork should be as close to perfect as can be.
Excellent
An excellent condition for vinyl will allow minor scuffs (Scuffs lay on top of the grooves) which are visible but only slightly. The wear should be minimal. The play should be close to perfect as well. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear. Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show a little white, meaning slight wear. No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs.
VG++
As Excellent but with a larger number of scuffs, maybe a couple of hairlines (very light scratch that can't be felt) or a couple of marks. Sound quality should still be very close to that of an Excellent record with only minor crackle in quiet segments only, NO scratches that can be felt. Cover as Excellent but there may be a small seam split on the cover, or a very minimal amount of writing like a name written in small writing or a number. A VG++ record should be an acceptable record to live with if you aren't looking to pay the price of a Near Mint copy.
