THE BEATLES - LOVE ME DO NEW, UNPLAYED, 7” SINGLE NOW DELETED WITH ALL COPIES AT STORES RECALLED BY EMI DUE TO A PRESSING ERROR! Mega rare 7" on EMI, recalled due to the record playing the album version of Love Me Do, instead of the intended single version. The label have insisted that copies still in stores unsold are returned to the distributor and be destroyed. What is the ‘pressing error’ ??? Well, Ringo drummed on the track when recorded on the 4th September 1962, but George Martin brought in session man Andy White a week later, on 11th September, as he was apparently not happy with Ringo’s performance. This second version has mistakenly been used for this 7” release and only features Ringo playing tambourine.!! In the end, the Ringo version was used on early pressings of the seven-inch, but not on the Please Please Me album. It is therefore correct, both technically and politically, that the Ringo version should be used on the celebratory seven-inch release. Hence EMI have withdrawn these initial copies which I have here. These were bought from a shop just before the recall notice hit the stores. They are in NEW condition, never played, no spindle marks, covers perfect.
