On offer here is a very rare and unique 2 EP set from THE BEATLES called ‘MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR’ an amazingly vibrant record and also the soundtrack to the film of the same name! This is the largest selling EP of all time! All songs on here are exceptional, as too is the most famous and recognised sleeve artwork in the world, a must for any fan!

However this record is even more special because it is a UK 1st Press and these are becoming incredibly rare these days, especially in sublime condition like this one. This UK version is how the BEATLES intended it and was never released in America and now no longer available! How rare is that! You simply won’t find another one anywhere else as they were only produced for a limited time in small numbers, they are so incredibly rare!

‘MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR’ 1st Pressing Identification:

- 1967 Parlophone Silver Label

- The label DOES have "Sold in the U.K..." statement.

- The Gramophone Co.LTD all rights… around the edge

- Small booklet 2 EP version, not the larger re-released LP

Catalogue Number – MMT 1 (Mono)

Now for the interesting bit; don’t be fooled by the re-released larger LP’s that contain songs that weren’t from the film, as these aren’t first pressings! The original UK version first featured a centre booklet telling the story of the film as well as a blue lyric sheet in the centre. This was incredibly innovative at the time, and I cant recall an instance were its been copied. Needless to say this version is in NEAR PERFECT CONDITION!

The record has hardly ever been played and subsequently has that just new look to it. There are a few tinny light surface marks as on all old EPs but these certainly don’t effect playing; these records are built to last! The record is pressed on thick quality black vinyl; this is a good example! This has been well looked after. The sleeve is still in good condition with no tears or scratches and has only slight minor buffering marks on the edges like any old EP. This in a fantastic ultra rare piece of rock and roll memorabilia in stunning condition!!! The inner white paper sleeves are immaculate with no splits or tears! The inner storybook is also in top condition, however the inner blue lyric sheet is a little crumpled yet perfectly eligible and intact. This minor defect hardly subtracts from such a quality item, just thought you should know. Record collector grading A, you wont be disappointed in the records miraculous condition, it really is ‘NEAR NEW’.

Anyone who has only previously heard these awesome tunes on CD is in for a real treat, as the vinyl version has so much more vibrant sound and richness that they lost in the digital conversion. You really can notice subtle differences in all the songs, it’s just incredible. This is how the BEATLES truly intended it! It really is a great looking LP and it’s truly impossible to find any copies of a first press, let alone one in such awesome condition! Just look at this astounding RARE BEATLES LP!!!!

LP Details: The Beatles thirteenth official E.P.

In the U.K. the "Magical Mystery Tour" soundtrack was released as a special double E.P. package. It contained two 3 track E.P.'s and was advertised as being complete with; "A 32 page full colour book packed with exclusive pictures, a strip cartoon of the original story, plus the words to the songs in the show !"
It's original cost was 19s 6d (19 shillings and sixpence ... which was just short of One Pound Sterling).

The eagerly anticipated release, had advance orders in Britain of over 400,000, and by mid-January 1968 had sold 600,000, so not surprisingly it did very well in the National chart.
It immediately entered the singles chart, and shot to No.2 ... being kept off the top slot by "Hello Goodbye". In fact, in Britain's top music weekly newspaper, the Melody Maker, it DID reach number 1 ... knocking "Hello Goodbye" off the top for one week from 13th January 1968. Clearly the E.P. set would have topped the E.P. chart, but this had actually been abandoned as a separate chart just 6 days before it's release !

Musically, the most interesting fact is that it included the Beatles first instrumental, "Flying". Which was also the first track to list all four names as joint writers. "Magical Mystery Tour" was also the first Beatle E.P. to be issued in Mono AND stereo, and the mono version is now deleted.
