THE BEATLES - MEET THE BEATLES! US Vinyl, Capitol Rainbow Label (1964) ST 2047 LP
I bought this used for my personal collection circa 1980. I kept this continuously stored with a plastic outer cover and it was unplayed by me until now when I checked it for condition. There are a number of variants of this early US release. This is the variant that does not have the "George Martin Producer" credit on the back. It has the number "2" stamped on the lower back cover, which I believe indicates a Scranton factory press. On the record labels, it gives publishing credits to BMI for "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "I Saw Her Standing There", "I Wanna Be Your Man" and credits ASCAP for all other songs.
I rate the cover jacket as Very Good. It has a very solid feel with no tears. The cover does have signs of ring wear and other small blemishes. On the top left rear, there are some faint numbers written in pencil I believe? Please see the photos.
The blue "Caution" inner sleeve is in excellent shape!
The LP is also in Very Good condition. There are visible surface scratch marks and a couple of smudge marks on the runout near the labels. The label on side 2 has marks around the center hole. The music can be enjoyed throughout the record. There are no skips, but there are some pops and clicks in the silence between songs. Pops are also noticeable at times during the "softer" songs like "This Boy" and "Till There Was You", as well as a few I noticed during "Not A Second Time."
I will place the vinyl in a new clear inner sleeve and include the original "Caution" paper sleeve also when shipping.
Please see the photos. I am not a professional grader. I am using my best judgement per the Goldmine grading standards.
I will take extra care with packing and shipment. I will put new plastic sleeves on the outer cover and LP and will pack the LP outside of the jacket to avoid any possible seam damage during shipment. I will pack securely and ship in a Whiplash LP mailer.
