Description
Welcome back to Deke's vaults. I'm about to list a rake of Blues Lp's:
Check out my other items!
A few words about my grading: I follow the Record Collector grading system, though I grade visually much of the time. In the case of rarer records I always give them a spin, in which case you'll see a comment or two relevant to that particular album. If you're unfamiliar with the RC Guide, make sure you have a gander below.
Record Collector Magazine Grading System MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
THE BEATLES 1st ALBUM, PLEASE PLEASE ME - LP: BLACK AND GOLD LABEL, E.J. DAY SLEEVE. PUBLISHING CREDITS ARE NORTHERN SONGS FOR THESE TRACKS: I SAW HER STANDING THERE, THERE'S A PLACE, DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET AND MISERY. BUT, CURIOUSLY, THE PUBLISHING CREDIT FOR PLEASE PLEASE ME IS DICK JAMES MUSIC. MAKES THIS A BIT MORE UNUSUAL, I THINK. ACCORDING TO RC GUIDE, ANYWAY. MUST BE WORTH THOUSANDS. MATRIX NOS. ARE XEX 421 - 1N AND XEX 422 - 1N
LABEL - PARLOPHONE *** PMC 1202 ***
GRADING:
COVER: VERY GOOD - JUST SHORT OF EXCELLENT, TO BE HONEST, BUT DON'T WANT TO PUSH MY LUCK.
DISC: VERY GOOD - NICE CLEAN COPY. PLAYS REALLY NICELY, WITH A FEW ISOLATED POPS. MY MID SEVENTIES REISSUE LOOKS AND PLAYS WORSE THAN THIS, AND I LOOKED AFTER MY VINYL. THERE'S A BIT OF A KERFUFFLE BETWEEN TRACKS - THE USUAL SNAP, CRACKLE AND POP - BUT VERY LITTLE DURING THE ACTUAL SONGS. ALSO, IT'S A LOVELY BRIGHT COPY, SHINY AND CLEAN. THERE ARE A FEW LIGHT MARKS ON SIDE 2, WHICH CAUSE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE PLAYING THEREOF. NO HINT OF A HOP, SKIP OR JUMP, IN FACT. SIDE ONE IS ALMOST BLEMISH FREE. WISH I COULD KEEP IT BUT THE AMERICAN HOLIDAY BECKONS SO THIS MUST GO THE SAME WAY AS A NUMBER OF OTHER CRACKERS I'VE PICKED UP LATELY.
