THE BEATLES : Magical Mystery Tour - rare 1967 USA *MONO* LP with booklet, F9/F9

On offer is a 1967 USA 11-track MONO VINYL LP on the Capitol label (MAL-2835) in a gatefold sleeve with 24-page booklet stapled inside, as shown in picture above (photo is of actual item).

I understand that by this time, mono pressings were being phased out to be replaced with stereo and that a mono USA pressing of this album is harder to find than its stereo counterpart. As is often the case with North American sleeves, the cover is a 'paste on' (ie the artwork is pasted onto the cardboard panels of the cover, leaving a small margin at the top and bottom).

I realise that Beatles pressings are a minefield and my knowledge is very limited, to say the least - therefore, I will try to list as many details as I can below and hope I cover everything. Should you have any questions or if I have missed out any important details, just drop me a line.

CONDITION

COVER - about VG condition (see below)

• the most obvious 'fault' is that there is a small bit of the paste-on artwork missing at the bottom middle of the front and an even smaller bit to the rear, top middle (please see pictures above).
• there is a very small 'ding' towards the left hand end of the bottom seams.
• has a tiny 'nick' at the bottom of the rear gatefold, where the side opening meets the bottom seam.
• some minor wear/rubbing to the artwork.
• a TINY bit of wear/rubbing at the top of the spine.

• there is some old sellotape to the areas where the staples are to the first inside page and the last inside page. There is NOT any tape on any other pages. Faint residual marks can be seen to the white of the outside of the booklet to front only (see pictures). The sellotape is old and quite dry and would likely peel off without much difficulty if you wished.
• the booklet is otherwise fine, with no tears, rips, writing, bends creases etc. Note that I have only given pictures where there is tape or tape residue and the remainer of the booklet is fine.

VINYL - about VG condition (see below)

• viewed under a bright halogen bulb, both sides have some noticeable but LIGHT 'hairline' and 'spiders web' type surface marks, slightly more on Side 2 than Side 1.
• there is also the odd light (non-feelable) surface mark.
• track 1 of Side 1 has a series of very light and very small 'dots' that are in a line and very close together. These are so light that they disappear and reappear as you tilt the record at different angles and obviously DO NOT affect play. Very minor indeed!
• Overall, there are some surface marks which are light, but I could find NO deep or 'feelable' scratches on either side, so nothing major at all and otherwise fine.

GRADING

NEW: Just that - still sealed items will be presumed to be in 'new' condition. Any visible signs of wear/storage etc. beneath the shrinkwrap will be mentioned..

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in very close to 'as new' condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in almost perfect condition. (please note that I will NEVER use the 'MINT' grade, as I think you are asking for trouble! The highest grade for an item that is not new will use will be NM [Near Mint])

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played a number of times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and maybe some occasional light scratches. If there is any surface noise it will be occasional, light and unobtrusive. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has obviously been played a lot and while it still plays through OK, it will have a lot of surface marks and/or light scratches (maybe also the occasional 'feelable' scratch) and most likely there there will be regular and noticeable surface noise. The cover and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine and/or seam splits, discoloration, etc.

To comply with eBay and Paypal policies and to hopefully disuade unscrupulous bidders, the ONLY countries I will send to by uninsured mail (and ONLY if the parcel's total value is UNDER £20) are: -
UK, European and EU countries (but NOT Italy, Russia or Turkey), Norway, USA and Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
If you live anywhere else then your parcel MUST be insured, the cost of which is to be covered by the buyer. Very sorry, but NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

Finally, please note that if your item (or if the combined values of the items in a single parcel) is £20.00 or above, then insurance is compulsory wherever you live. This is an extra £1.10 for 'Signed For' in the UK (up to the value of £50, after which extra cover will need to be paid for by the buyer) or an extra £5.30 for overseas buyers to cover 'International Signed For'.
