Description
A Collection Of Beatles Oldies but Goldies, Parlophone, PCS 7016, stereo. Printed and made by Ernest J.Day & Co. front laminated flipback cover with small “stereo” on the front side.
First pressing. December 10, 1966. Black label with yellow logo with unique Times New Roman silver print.
“The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print and “Sold in U.K. subject to ..........” text above spindle hole. Without KT tax code on the label. Matrix numbers: Side 1: YEX 619-1G; Side 2: YEX 620-1G.
“Oldies but Goldies” came out as Parlophone were producing their Times New Roman typeset runs and most early copies appeared with this label design. By mid 1967 Parlophone had gone back to using the Sans-serif typeset on their labels.
The cover is very good condition, good sharp corners and very clean, their are some age spots along opening edge, the spine has discoloured a tiny bit, the reverse is again very very good, the top flap shows slight discolouration where the original price label was, the 3 flaps all show slight discolouration again just age spots (please see pics). hey this is from 1966 and the 53 years have been good to it. please see pics, no graffiti or tears.
The vinyl record itself is very good condition, held by the widow at an angle I can’t see 1 hair scratch side 1 and 1 on side 2. The Labels show tiny marks around the hole, no graffiti, tears or writing. It's been played of course but it is the original 1966 pressing and its in good condition
Plain white inner sleeve. I believe is the original sleeve but cannot be 100% on this
This is from my personnel collection and it is in very good condition, I was a printer for 50 years and can vouch that the typeface used is definitely Times New Roman and not Sans.
I am a very fussy Beatle person and have given a detailed description, it's not new but it's very collectible and will only increase in value as original Beatles memorabilia goes from strength to strength and generation to generation
