1963 1st PRESSING DICK JAMES CREDITS GOLD TYPEFACE LABEL
A particularly rare 1st issue here having 1R/ 1R mother and stamper's (1st mother's and 2nd stamper's) being pressed on the first day of production and being one of the first ever pressed at almost the same time or straight after the 1G/ 1G's!!
The sleeve is the 1st issue Gold version manufactured by E. J. Day and having the Angus McBean photo credit being aligned to the far right starting under the last 's' in songs. It is in Very Good Plus condition being incredibly neat and tidy for a 1st issue. The edges, corners and spine are still well laminated with just a few small nicks. The laminate on the front cover is still well glossed and tight against the card, with a only minor amount of feint creases. The rear panel retains it's whiteness with dark black sleeve notes; there's just minor age discoloration and a name written. The fold-over's are still well-adhered and pretty neat with only minor lifting at the extremities. The opening side is neat, flat, and tight with no rippling. It is a strong, sturdy, robust card material, with no repairs, rips etc and defies its age.
The inner sleeve is the correct one - a dense type outer paper with a poly-inner and 'Made In England' text with Emitex advertising info. It is in Very Good Plus condition with only very minor use wear.
The vinyl is in stunning condition for such an early iteration. Would grade as easily Very Good Plus. The surface shine still gleams out all over and in every direction it projects its glossy black finish. There is evidence of play-use but it is clear that it has been listened to in moderation, extremely well handled and played on high-spec equipment. There are a fair amount of feint hairlines scattered here and there mostly only showing up in broad daylight or under a light, but there are non at all that stand out or are remotely feel-able or causing audio problems. There is no evidence of groove wear, warps, scuffs, needle drops etc. Regardless of how early this particular copy is, I believe its condition would beat most that come up sale, and would regard as a high-end Gold.
The labels grade as Excellent as the gold leaf has been well retained almost perfect and the black paper is still glossy. There are no marks or writing or scuffing. There is a only a hint of wear around the spindle point and no spindle lines, the ZT tax code stands out bold.
The audio is astounding. It plays clearly and lucidly all of the way through with very very little audible detractions. I only detected a few static-type tics in a one or two of the intro's and fade-out's but certainly nothing overpowering. A few of the track change grooves have a few more noticeable tics, but I'm confident it won't cause disappointment. There is no background interference (or very little discernible), certainly no pops, or skips, or sticks etc. I would grade as Excellent, and is great to hear such depth to the bass and punchy vocals made the more special being from one of the first Please Please Me LP's ever produced.

The record will be extremely well protected using a professional LP mailer with a stiffener, and I add extra outer padding for overseas orders.
The vinyl will be removed from the original inner sleeve, placed in a new generic one and placed next to the main sleeve and will all be housed in a best on the market thumb-weld glass sleeve.
