1st Press Matrices 1N/ 1N
Format: Mono
Sleeve:
The sleeve is only in Fair to Good condition. It is still sturdy and strong and holds the record securely. It has obvious wear and use but the spine still has a little title text left. All edges are smooth edges owing to clear strong scotch tape repair on every edge. No tears, just scuffed edges that have been repaired. This is a 1st issue Gold sleeve with the Angus McBean text offset to the right hand side.
Inner Sleeve: Original EMI poly-lined inner sleeve completely intact.
The Vinyl: Strictly graded as Very Good Minus condition. There is nothing visible that detracts from the jet black pressing shine - but it does have a fair amount of superficial hairlines on each side - sweeping over the surface. There is nothing to be called a scratch, and there are no marks or scuffs. It is a heavy-weight slab of vinyl that lies completely flat on the turntable. For the most part it is crystal clear and has retained a bright mirror-like pressing shine.
The Labels: Very Good Plus condition. A little light wear to the spindle perimeter. There are minimal spindle lines and no writing etc.
Has an early ZMT tax code.
These are rare labels as they omitt the ‘First Published in 1963’ text on both sides.
The Audio: Plays smoothly from start to finish on each side with warm mono bass and clear and lucid detail. These robust and resilient early sixties vinyl pressings always tend to play better than the appearance might portray, and they were made to sustain frequent play. There are no jumps, skips, pops, sticks or unwanted noise. However, some places have prominent tics which are audible over the music, but it doesn’t cause much destraction.
