Description
Transitional label released in tiny numbers in 1963.
Side 1 Matrix: XEX 421-1N
Stamper numbers: 2 F
Side 2 Matrix: XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1 2 RM
Possibly the rarest of all UK pressings of this iconic, game-changing LP. The newly launched, now-classic yellow and black Parlophone label originally featured a small 33 1/3 printed next to the catalogue number. It wasn't long ( days? hours? ) before the penny dropped at Parlophone HQ that the new design featured this same information in great big type right on top of the Parlophone logo itself. The original label was hastily scrapped and replaced and the unnecessary type removed, but not before a few hundred "Please Please Me"s had been pressed.
For the really serious Beatles collector, this is an absolute must-have.
No outer sleeve, but housed in original Emitex inner sleeve. This is intact but shows its age with seam splits and a bit of creasing.
The record itself is in good condition. A little surface noise here and there, but not enough to detract from the raw, powerful punch of the music. This LP still sounds as vital as it did when it was pressed over 50 years ago.
