The album was released in 1963 on the Parlophone label.
This was the debut studio album from The Beatles. Recorded at EMI Studios, London (Abbey Road) and released in March, 1963.
The two hit singles, and their 'B' Sides, were recorded in late 1962, but the rest of the album was recorded in a single session on February, 11th, 1963 (will a couple of subsequent overdubs).
Of the 14 songs on the album, 8 were Lennon & McCartney originals. The rest were covers that featured in their live act. See the track listing below for writing credits.
Musicians:- John Lennon, vocals and rhythm guitar; George Harrison, lead guitar and vocals; Paul McCartney, bass and vocals; ringo Starr, drums and vocals
Produced by George Martin (credited in the sleeve notes)
The sleeve has a laminated front cover featuring the classic Angus McBean photo of The Beatles looking down the stairwell of EMI's London headquarters, in Manchester Square. The photographers credit is in the bottom, right-hand corner. The unlaminated rear cover, with flipbacks, has a track listing and sleeve notes by The Beatles' press officer, Tony Barrow.

The "Photo: Angus McBean" credit is printed at the front, bottom, right-hand corner, (starting beneath the "s" of 'songs'. This indicates the earliest printing of the sleeve, on the second issue sleeves the credit has moved to the left (closer to the "g").
