Description
The Beatles, do my head in trying to work out which press is which. So after hours of study and gazing in to crystal balls. I'm ready to have a go. The album first came out in 1963. The label on the vinyl would have had gold on black writing, so scratch that one on my copy. The second and third press were the same. There was some third pressing with yellow on black, but in stereo. Scratch again. Now it really does starts to get complicated , Enter Mr Angus McBean into the equation. He was the person who took the photo, and is credited on the front bottom right hand corner. Now if the A in Angus comes under the G in the word songs it more than likely a 1965 sixth press, but if it comes under the S in songs we could be talking the 1963 fifth press. But that one has a large mono type on the top front. So now we have to get a ruler out and measure the distance from the angus type to the edge of the cover. Now as the last clump of hair comes away at the roots, I scream in anger " you did not say which edge.
Tell you what, I'm putting it up at well below the book price, and if you find a lost treasure, good luck to you.
Have fun.
