JUST UNEARTHED AFTER ALMOST 60 YEARS IN HIDING....this rare stand up record store display for THE BEATLES SOMETHING NEW just came out of an estate where almost everything was from the 1960s and 70s....the man's wife died 40 years ago, and it was a time warp. The strange thing is that the family did not look like it had any connection to the record industry....however they had a bunch of still sealed records from the mid 60s (mostly lawrence welk and the like) and one other common Meet The Beatles record, so maybe they had a friend who was in the business and he gave them this for the kids. It really doesn't look like it was used in a record store. The kicker is that when Capitol made it they didn't even bother to put the correct back slick on it...they used a 1963 Guy Lombardo leftover front cover. I found a very similar Capitol produced one for Meet the Beatles with a plain back, and the die cut pattern is identical on the back side....if you google "meet the beatles counter display worthpoint" you can see it....here it is below too.
While I cannot find any others that have sold that doesn't mean they don't exist, but this certainly is one of a handful out there. In excellent condition. See photos.
