Description
ORIGINAL 1963 MONO LP. Vinyl in EXCELLENT condition **see below**. Cat No Parlophone PMC 1202.
EARLY FIRST PRESSING Black and gold label LP, in ORIGINAL SLEEVE
Matrix numbers XEX 421-1N and XEX 422-1N. MT tax code on side 1 label, incorrect Dick James credits on label.
Original 1st pressing Ernest J. Day sleeve in GOOD condition (Angus McBean credit in extreme right corner (see picture). Front cover is worn around the edges, with knock wear on all four corners. There is some browning in a few places around the edge.
The spine is slightly worn, with a small tear through the album title (see picture).
All three flipbacks are complete but have been sellotaped in places. There is some staining and discolouration on the rear (see picture)
Poly lined emitex inner sleeve has a 12cm record tear in the centre of one side.
Minimal spindle wear and spindle marks (see picture - side 2 label shown, as this is the "worst" of the two)
**** VINYL GRADING ****
This record has obviously been very well cared for, as it plays with the absolute minimum of background noise (mainly heard between tracks), with only a handful of background clicks heard throughout playback on each side. There are a few hairline scuffs on each side of the vinyl - with the exception of side 2 ....... please read on before bidding ..........
Unfortunately the EXCELLENT grading of the vinyl does not extend to love me do. This track is ungraded because it does have a scratch running in the same direction as the groove (see picture), which causes it to skip several times during playback (7 skips on one of my turntables, and 9 skips on my more sensitive turntable).
It also has groove wear towards the end of the track, 2.5cm / 1 inch from the outer edge of the record - again see picture, (which does not affect sound quality on my less sensitive turntable, but it does on my more sensitive turntable). I have seen this on a lot of old LP's, maybe somebody can offer a suggestion as to what the old record players may have had which caused this.
I hope this has not put you off bidding on this fantastic LP. You can see from the fantastic condition of the labels that this has been really well cared for - except for that one slip, when the old 60's record player or arm was knocked.
