THE BEATLES Please Please Me Mono 12" UK 4th Press 1963 1N/1N 1st Print Sleeve
Very decent and playable copy of The Beatles debut album. This version is the rare fourth Mono pressing without the small 33⅓ at 9 o'clock on the labels. The matrices read XEX 421 - 1 N / XEX 422 - 1 N
It has the Black and Yellow Parlophone label with silver print and the name "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD. “ (in capital letters) on the outer rim.
The "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" statement had not yet added at this stage and it is without the small "33 1/3" print on the labels.
The sleeve is the first press with the Angus McBean credit aligned to the far right and has the word "mono" on upper right of the front cover in a large font. The front laminated sleeve has some noticeable wear at the corners (pictured), some light staining but is overall in decent condition.
The vinyl has some noticeable marks and scuffs (see pics) but these are shallow and the LP is very playable with light background noise and some pops and clicks. There is wear around the spindle hole and the vinyl has obviously been well played over the years. No jumps or skips were heard on playback (tested on a vintage Oak deck with Mission arm and Grado GT cartridge).
Good opportunity to obtain a decent playable very early copy of The Beatles debut.
