The Beatles, Please Please Me.
UK Parlophone Records mono LP, PMC 1202.
1963 5th press:
- "Parlophone Co." and "Recording First Published" label text
- Ernest J. Day sleeve with the 'A' of Angus underneath the second 'S' of songs
- Matrix Numbers: XEX 421-1N / XEX 422-1N
- Mothers/Stampers: 111/GLO / ?/GTG (Note that 111 consists of 11 with another 1 above this. The unidentified single digit is faintly impressed and appears as a circle but with the middle missing, so possibly 3 or 8.
No mint but an above average copy. Vinyl is a strong VG, in the strictest terms. I find that most extant copies of this now nearly sixty year old LP tend to be around G+ or worse with very worn sleeves.
Vinyl has a good gloss still but a number of light scuff marks and a few gentle non-feelable scratches. Some low level crackle is heard at separator bands but very rarely during the tracks. There are a very few soft ticks but these are confined to the final separator band only.
Spindle wear is moderate but not excessive. The centre holes are showing just the beginnings of whitening wear.
The labels are otherwise clean and unmarked.
Original Emitex sleeve has light disc outline creasing but is otherwise sound.
External sleeve has light overall wear and tear but no glaring defects. Some laminate imperfections and small instances of air pocketing. A number of small pinch line creases lead in from edges and have taken on tanning.Tips worn through and starting to round. A few chips to edges but no heavy scuffing or seam splits. A little of the spine text has been lost. Entry side is still firm and not worn or feathered. Rear panel has overall darkening and tanning but is still generally well preserved with all backflaps intact
